According to an Indian parable, one day, all the merchants of a certain kingdom gathered at a grand artisan fair at the king’s invitation. The king announced that he would purchase all the goods that remained unsold. One merchant was unable to sell his iron statuette of Saturn. Following the king's orders, the royal servants bought the statuette and brought it to the palace.
That night, the king had a dream in which he saw a very beautiful woman separating herself from his body. The woman turned out to be Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth and Prosperity. She told the king that she could not stay in the presence of Saturn and then left him.
Afterward, Triumph, Righteousness, Resilience, Compassion, Tolerance, and other virtues also departed from him in the same manner. The king did not attempt to stop them. However, when Truth prepared to leave last, the king tried to hold onto it, saying that he had never abandoned it.
All the virtues waited outside the door for Truth to join them so they could leave together in search of a new home. After waiting for a long time (as Truth never came out), Righteousness said that it could not exist without Truth and therefore returned to the king. One by one, the other virtues followed.
Lakshmi was the last to return. She told the king that all the virtues had come back to him because of his love for Truth, a love that no virtue could resist. She also said that a person who is so devoted to Truth can never be unhappy.
Saturn is responsible for patience, wisdom, and discipline. It favors those who know how to be grateful and patient, guiding individuals toward self-development by teaching lessons so they can become who they are meant to be.
Among all the planets studied in Vedic astrology, Saturn is the slowest-moving planet. It remains in one sign for approximately two and a half years (sometimes up to three years). Saturn takes about thirty years to traverse the entire zodiac. This prolonged influence on each house of the natal chart makes its transits highly significant, capable of bringing substantial changes to a person’s life.
The sign of Libra is the strongest position for Saturn (its exaltation), offering the greatest opportunities. Capricorn and Aquarius are Saturn’s own signs, where it also expresses its strength, albeit slightly less than in Libra.
Taurus, Gemini, and Virgo are Saturn’s friendly signs, which bring success, though Saturn’s strength in these signs is notably weaker compared to Libra, Capricorn, and Aquarius.
Sagittarius and Pisces are neutral signs for Saturn. They do not contribute significantly to success but also do not drain its strength.
Cancer, Leo, and Scorpio are hostile signs for Saturn, diminishing much of its strength and resources when it resides in them.
Aries is Saturn’s weakest position, its debilitation, where it has the fewest opportunities.
Depending on the sign occupied by transiting Saturn, a person receives an opportunity during this period to become more organized, meticulous, and orderly. It is essential to take into account the influence of other planets (both natal and transiting) on transiting Saturn when making predictions. One should also consider the position of the ruler of the house Saturn is transiting through, the houses ruled by Saturn, and the natal Saturn, which influences a person throughout their life.
Saturn casts a direct aspect on the seventh house from itself (its strongest influence is on the house it occupies, followed by the seventh house from itself). Additionally, it aspects the third and tenth houses from itself.
